摘  要

當前,經濟全球化正在如火如荼的發展。中國加入世貿組織后,與世界各國的交往開始越來越密切。在經濟全球化的今天,培養學生在商務環境下的跨文化交際能力變得越來越重要。本文介紹了培養大學生商務英語跨文化交際能力的重要性, 通過分析國際商務活動中常見的商務文化差異以及明確跨文化交際能力培養的重要性,并從教師,教育部和學生三方面提出了提高大學生跨文化交際能力的策略。如教師可以改變教學觀念、優化教學方法、豐富教學手段,教育部可以編寫合適的教材,學生可以通過自主學習,培養自身移情能力提高跨文化交際能力。

Abstract

At present, economic globalization is developing quickly. Since China has entered the WTO, it has closer relationship with countries in the world. Nowadays, cultivating students with intercultural communication competence in business environment is becoming increasingly important. This article describes the importance of training college students business English intercultural communication competence. By analyzing the business and cultural differences in international business activities in common aims to identify the importance of cross-cultural communicative competence training. And it presents some strategies from teacher,education department and students’ aspect to improve college students’ intercultural communication competence. For example, teachers can change teaching concepts, optimize teaching methods, enrich teaching means to help students improve their intercultural communication competence. Education department can compile appropriate textbooks to help students improve intercultural communication competence.And students can improve their intercultural communication competence by self-learning or cultivating their empathic ability.

1 Introduction
    Intercultural communication has become an increasingly important field, particularly in higher education, due to the rise of globalization and internationalization (Zhao, Kuh, & Carini, 2005).  In the past twenty years, there has been a sharp increase in the number of international corporations. As international trade sales are increasingly employed in university campuses, communication problems among businessmen and undergraduate students have been arisen due to the difficulties with pronunciation in English, challenges in developing pedagogical skills, and the complexities of intercultural communication.
1.1 Background information
The development of intercultural competence is the development of the ability to communicate effectively and appropriately with people of different cultures, which is essential for successful interactions between businessmen and undergraduate students. Due to the ever-increasing importance of international commerce to the United States’ economy, the concept of intercultural communication has become a vital element to the success of international corporations. Yet, the literature has pointed out that a majority of students majored in business English  graduating  from  American institutions of higher education are not prepared  to assume positions in  international business operations due to the negligence of these institutions to instill cultural awareness and intercultural communication skills needed to succeed.
